Karla Lehmann
Bio and Works Karla Lehmann enjoys sharing her enthusiasm for life and travel via her stories, songs and photographs. Karla was born in Oklahoma, but grew up in southern Arizona. Her career and her passion for travel have taken her around the globe. As a mother, Karla realized important lessons could be brought forth to her child by exploring nature near their home and learning about local history, plants, animals, and climate. Karla is an active participant on the board for CCUM Preschool. She is a member of the Society of Children's Book Writers and Illustrators and the Arizona Authors Association. She has a bachelor's degree from the University of Arizona and a master's certificate from George Washington University. Karla Lehmann's series of Rita the Bird Dog books are a commemorative to her pet Weimaraner of 16 years, Rita, who loved nature of all kinds. Each book is based on Rita's travels through a geographic area and includes two songs in addition to English/German/Spanish vocabulary. Children can enjoy the color photography and rhymes while learning about plants, animals, history and culture of the area.
