PRESIDENT
I lead the governing board in our effort to create an ever more effective voice for Arizona's literary community. We hold workshops around the state, maintain liaisons with other writers' organizations, sponsor the contest and literary magazine, provide public access to our members through our published authors directory and our membership directory. We organize critique groups, promote communication among our members through a forum and newsletter, and look for new ways to support our members' needs. I served seven years as the Contest Coordinator for AZ Authors and have been a member for over twenty years.

Scott Jones
VICE-PRESIDENT & NEWSLETTER EDITOR
As Vice President, my first responsibility is to support our president with her commitments to our members. My mission is to focus on issues and topics that support our members' goals and create new programs to encourage local and state wide participation. My new-found love is producing a timely informative newsletter for distribution. This commitment to Arizona Authors has been the single best volunteer experience to date! I hope everyone will consider serving this great organization!

Vijaya Schartz
WEBMISTRESS - former President and former Magazine Editor
During my seven-year presidency I created our first website, revived the Arizona Literary Magazine, instituted activities like our participation in the Phoenix Book Festival, organized book signings for our published authors, created new critique groups. We now participate in many public events, and our calendar and newsletter offer many opportunities to grow for writers at every level. We established a relationship with bookstores and the local media. Our membership greatly increased since 1998, and our image has improved tremendously.
I gladly maintain our website, but my writing career now takes precedence. With eight books published, six of which won awards, as well as responsibilities in other writers groups (like President of the Desert Rose Chapter of Romance Writers, and Webmistress of the Valley of the Sun Romance Chapter) my hands are full. But I owe much to this association and am thankful for the opportunity to serve.

As secretary, my responsibilities are to maintain board meeting records that occur online, to send emails to the media for Arizona Authors activities, and to mail hard copies to the media for publicity about Arizona Authors. I love working with the board and offering support to our president as I carry out my new responsibilities for this wonderful organization.

I make the arrangements for the east side meetings, presently hoping to remain at the Sunset Branch of Chandler Library. I set up the chairs, welcome the speakers and greet our members and guests. I try to make sure we stay acquainted and supportive of each other’s talents and skills. I have been a member for about five years and live in mid- Scottsdale.

Jeri Castronova
HIGH COUNTRY LIAISON
As High Country Liaison, I coordinate literary activities in Sedona. I have been President of the Professional Writers of Prescott for the past 3 years. Last year the two groups hosted a workshop featuring Best-Selling Author, David Morrell, in conjunction with the Prescott Book Festival held at the Sharlot Hall Museum. My first novel, a thriller titled Code of the King, was a finalist in the 2006 AZ Authors Contest. My background as a Clinical Psychologist led to the publication of a self-help spiritual book titled Paint the Sky and Dance: Women and the New Myths. I live in Sedona, lead workshops, write and paint.
